Well, it's a few days late! But better to be late then not show up at all i always say! That's right, it's time for Firebrand review of TUC's top 5 for the week!
Had a lot going on the past few days with my life, and i finally got a chance to sit down and wright this up. So strap in for this ride, cause we got some good heavy music for the top 5's!
This week we have Machinery, Elision of Animus, Boy Meets World, Rootless, and last, but definitely not least we got Increased Distortion
First on the list we have Machinery with there song "The Serpent". Now I didn't have the opportunity to join the Bandout they did for YouTube, nor was i there for the live thing, but i did catch it a few hour's after with the bandout. Tony, and a few others got to talk with front man Karl Johan Vidner of Machinery and i have to say, that man knows his stuff! Love this song, the opening is nice, heavy tune that raddled some of my bottle collections off my shelves. Hell it even made my roommates go " The hell was that? That was a killer song!" I love the double kick, the guitar work, the bass, everything about this song screams out at me like a banshie! Overall i give this song a solid 5 out of 5 star's! Keep doing that voodoo that ya do so well Machinery!
Next on the list we got Elision of Animus with there song "Penumbra".
Now I'm not one for screamo, much. I have my fav's, and I have my songs i like. To me with this one all i hear is growling, it's like he's trying to deep thorough the mic half way through the song. I would like to be able to understand the music I'm listening to. But the guitar work in this song is spot on! the drum's are sick to! they sure as hell kick ya in the teeth! Even though i cant make the lyric's out i wound up having a semi mini, self only mosh pit in my chair here listening to this peace of work. Overall i give this song a solid 4 out of 5 star's, mainly cause i would like to understand what there saying, then sounding like caveman grunts and groans.
next on the block we got Boy Meets World with there song "Rest Of Our Days." This song brings me back to my child hood. Not necessarily cause the name of the band was a hit TV show, but they remind me of bands like "Simple plan", and "sum 41." now i still listen to some of those bands ( i know, sad for me.) and i have to say, these guy's got it going on. The guitar work is spot on, drum's are nice to, singer's got a spot on vocal tone! It brings me back to the days when i was a simple minded teenager, enjoying life, and not having a care in the world ( not saying i don't live like that now, but I wised up with most things.) This is definitely one of those song's you would find in my personal collection of music that i listen to in my car when I'm driving, or just hanging with friends. Overall give this one a solid 4 out of 5.
We now are getting down to the last two from the top 5! With these last two, is a battle for first, and second place in TUC top band of the month! coming at ya first is Rootless with there brain crushing song "Pussy Whipped." Alright here's another one of those, thrash in ya chair to ya self, bang your head agents the wall and realize you just imprinted a hole of your head in the wall song! Right out of the gate i found my self headbanging so hard i gave my self a headache and nearly launched my head set at my TV. The drum's, fucking ROCK, guitar work, GOD LIKE, vocal's, different. The end pig sequels in the vocals made me stop and be like " The hell? Ok, THAT'S new!" never the less, this song is like to me. Satan himself spat these guy's out and says " go forth my children, and show the world what i have to offer!" final review, 5 out of 5 stars! Definitely downloaded this, and added it to my personal collection of music!
And we are to our last, but definitely not least song on the list, coming at ya from the band Increased Distortion with there face rocking song "In The Middle Of Nowhere." Now the intro and main body of this song threw me for a loop at first, it took me a bit to have this song grow on me. I listened to it for a good 4 days before I said to my self " Ok, i can dig this." It's a creeper. It's like you just smoked the biggest bag of cali creeper, and it hasn't hit ya yet till it smacks ya in the teeth. The vocal's are nice, you got your soft harmonic spot's, and your brutal part's. The guitar work sounds a bit muddy in places, but i blame that on the mastering really. the drum's are stellar, spot on, the kicks they throw are deadly. I can move my feet pretty quickly, but not THAT fast! the base is spot on as well. Overall review song gets a 4.5 out of 5 star's, it's there, but the guitar muddy sound is whats holding it back from a solid 5 star performance.
Well that does it for the top 5 for this week Join me again next time where i give out my thought's on the tuniges that are on TUC! And don't forget to vote for this months top band!
