Jarcodes productions is just another way to support the show. It's a great way to get acquainted with Google+, as well as a great way to find updates on our latest episode. See what Jarcodes has up it's sleeves next here, and +1 us to help us continue to spotlight the great music that we feature each and every month
Google Hangout pre-interview set up and tips
So let me guess. You've been asked to do an interview with one or more of our hosts, or you would like to. Maybe you have a website that benefits independent or unsigned musicians, maybe you're a former featured artist, or maybe you're a fan that wants to join a fan chat session. By reading the following steps you will be ready and able to not only join us in a Google Hangout, but you will be prepared to host your own hangout.
1. You will need a gmail email address
2. Click any of the above Google links and with that gmail email address set up a Google+ account. It can be as simple of a profile or as extensive an account as you want.
3. Add Jason's personal profile to one or more of your circles
start a Hangout. On the side of your profile you will find a row of icons. Scroll down until you find the icon marked "Hangout". Start a hangout by following the steps directed. You will be prompted to install a plugin so that Google hangouts can allow you to access your microphone and or webcam during the hangout.
Thats it! Here now is some information that we've gathered for troubleshooting some situations
You can not join or host a "live" hangout from a mobile device. IOS as yet is still an impossibility and Android is very complicated.
With Macs there are sometimes some issues when joining a live hangout or hosting as well. You may want to test this by creating a test live hangout. For this you will need a YouTube account since the live streams are broadcast onto that platform. If you encounter booting issues don't become frustrated as I did. Simply try downloading Firefox, or Google chrome and logging in to Google+ through one of those browsers
As of this moment we when recording do not use webcams so for best audio when in the hangout adust your settings in advance
Find the Bandwidth icon at the top right of your hangout. Slide it to the left until your cam is off
in settings. Also an icon at the upper right of your hangout. set your default devises to the microphone you plan on using, in and out,
Recording Tips
A helpful critical tip is when recording in a hangout you need to where some sort of headphones, headset, or even earbuds. If you don't do this ther will be an echo of your voice in the recording
Watch your mic distence. when you move away from or towards the microphone there will be a feedback issue also your voice and tone will record inconsistently. Finally on this topic. moving or touching the mic will create a very annoying sound.
The better the microphone the better you will sound. Obviously, but you can get a better sound by watching where you record from. If you have walls around you that reflect your voice you can work to solve that by doing whatever works for your situation. Let us know here what you did so that others can try .
Thank you, and we hope to be chatting away with you soon
